Black absorbs negativity, and is the color of authority and power.  Black adorned with white is associated with sophistication and elegance.  Some positive aspects of black are rest, sleep, and patience.  Just what an Irish Dancer ordered!

Purple is the color of strength and passion, and is the color of kings.  It symbolizes creative force, beauty inspiration and artistry.  Energetically, purple inspires the soul to express itself in art, music and dance.

White is known for its qualities of self sacrifice.  The Irish Dancer must sacrifice many aspects of their everyday life in order to excel in their chosen field.  White symbolizes purity, innocence and beginnings. The portrayal of Breffni's royal history is further captured by the use of four other rich colors.

Red is also a color that represented kings, chieftains and dignitaries.  It was the symbol of power, dignity, position, and rank.  Irish dancers must dance with power, win/lose with dignity and work hard for position and rank within the competitive circuit.    Red also symbolizes force, energy, passion, courage and action.  It is associated with leadership, the will and the body.  Each of these qualities are evident throughout an Irish Dancer's career, where valuable lessons are learned that they carry with them throughout their life.

Aqua symbolizes confidence, strength and movement.  It has a breathtaking quality of stealing the show.  Its close association with water conjures the more emotional qualities of fun, letting go and joy.  The Irish Dancer is a confident, strong individual that steals the show with their many intricate movements, while at the same time enjoying all the fun that is associated with it.

Silver is the color of intuition.  It is the color of peace and persistence.  An Irish Dancer must have patience to master their steps.  Success comes from persistent practice and positive attitude.
